Ways to fill a Pinata

Many people don't think about filling the pinata they just put in toys, candy, confetti and other goodies. Well there are ways to make the distribution of the goodies more equal among the guests and other ways that add a little more excitement to the activity. Here you will see just a few of those ideas. Remember there are no real rules to pinata game, other than adult supervision is needed all the way through the game So be creative when thinking about how you want the game played and go over all the rules with everyone before play.

The usual way a pinata is played is a "free for all" where, when the pinata is broke open everyone just dives in for all the goodies. No matter how you play the game, there is always ways to create more excitement to the activity.

Follow some of these ideas and your guests will surely have the time of their lives.

  • Have the loose toys and candy in the pinata but also put in some baggies of toys or candy.
  • Add confetti and shred to the pinata when filling with candy and toys.
  • Add some gold pennies, dimes, and nickels for an extra little treat.
  • While the game is being played, throw out some handfuls of candy to the children who are waiting for the big bang.

  • Put all the goodies inside of baggies or paper loot bags and designate how many each child is able to get. If you do this, we highly suggest you add some shred or confetti to make it look more festive. Example: You have 8 children playing. So put in 24 bags of loot, and tell each child they are allowed to only get 3 of them.
  • Instead of using baggies or paper loot bags do the same thing but use a different type of container. Example:
  • Use plastic Easter eggs to put the goodies in.
  • Dress Up Theme Party: Use small cosmetic bags or travel boxes (for soap or toothbrushes) to put the goods in.
  • Alien Encounter Theme Party: Wrap the toys and candy inside of aluminum foil and call them space rocks or create our version of space rocks.
  • Make miniature pinatas with water balloons, in colors coordinating with your party theme.
